Fred Verne Waring
- Obituary -


Fred Verne Waring, age 67, formerly of Corning, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainsville, Florida. 

Fred was born on October 20, 1948 in Corning, NY, the son of the late Donald M. Waring and Anna Fronz Waring. He graduated from Corning East High School in 1967. 

Fred was proud to serve his country as a SSgt. in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he worked for Corning Glass Incorporated in Corning, NY, Erwin Plant and retired as an Process Engineer in the Machine Shop. In 2006, Fred moved to Williston, FL.

As a Vietnam Veteran, Fred was a member of the Rolling Thunder, Inc. Chapter #3 Fl. since his return from military service. Over the years, he gave a lot of himself to the Veterans by cooking Holiday meals for Veterans who had no families. As a Rolling Thunder member, he escorted bodies of our soldiers coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan as they came back to the United States. He was also an escort with Rolling Thunder for many military funerals. 

Fred is survived by three lovely daughters: Amber (Timothy) Fiori of Spring Hill, FL, Christina Waring of Kenmore, NY, and Nichole Waring Ingram of Corning, NY; four grandchildren: Timothy Fiori of Spring Hill, FL, Lila Fiori of Spring Hill, FL, Hunter Ingram of Corning, NY, and Mercedes Ingram of Corning, NY; sister: Patricia Waring Maloney of Fort Wayne, IN; Nieces: Annemarie (Timothy) Potteiger of Carlisle, PA, Juliana Russell Dawson of Fort Wayne, IN, Michele Waring Casner of Scottsdale, AZ; Nephews: Michael M. Waring of Santa Fe, NM, Mark M. Waring of Show Low, AZ.

In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his brother, Donald G. Waring, and his sister-in-law, Marjorie VanGorder Waring.

On January 8, 2016, Rolling Thunder, Family, and Friends will be escorting Fred to his place of rest at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S.W. 102nd Ave., Bushnell, FL., 33513. There will be a full Military Funeral and Burial there at 2 p.m.
