ALBANY Judith L. Alfonso, 63, of Quail Street, Albany, N.Y., passed on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at home. Born May 23, 1949 in Corning, N.Y., she was the daughter of John J. and Anna (Dinilich) Hogan. Judy and Vicente Alfonso met in 1967, and jumped the broom in 1970 and had a civil ceremony in March 1982. Judy graduated from Harper College, Binghamton, N.Y. with a bachelor's degree in English Literature. She retired in 2011 after being employed for 25 years at the NY State Assembly as an executive administrative assistant. She loved walking and was an avid practitioner of yoga. She was a church reader at St. Vincent De Paul Church in Albany for many years. Judy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and extended this devotion to her many friends. Judy was kind, loving and had a generosity of spirit that will never be forgotten by the many lives that she has touched. During her lifetime, she was also a world traveler. She traveled to the Caribbean, Poland, Czech Republic, Ireland, Seoul Korea, and Bali Indonesia. She is survived by her loving husband, Vicente Alfonso and son, Vicente D. Alfonso, Albany; step-son, Kenneth (Kim) Jennings, Stockholm, Sweden; siblings, Mary Ann (Jim) Thomas of Corning, N.Y., John (Lola) Hogan of Christiansburg, Va. Sister-in-laws, Cecilia Alfonso of Troy, N.Y. and Lori Hogan of Corning, N.Y.; nieces and nephew, Valerie and Stephanie Hogan and John Wood. In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Hogan and Mark Hogan; uncle, Edward Hogan; and mother-in-law, Lucy Lopez. Funeral services Friday, September 7, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to the Gotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, at Yates and Ontario Streets, Albany at 10 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
