David Healy Obituary

David J. Healy, age 67, of Corning, NY passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. David was born August 20, 1949 in Corning, NY to Joseph and Emma (Trondsen) Healy. He married Lorrie C. Kerr on May 30, 1970 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Corning.

David served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1975. During this time, he served abroad and stateside. He attended Elmira College, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. He retired from the DEU at the Bath V.A. in 2011. David was known for his sense of humor, spirituality, and selflessness. He served as a teacher of religious education for over 35 years. He loved his faith, his family, his friends, and his football.

He is survived by his wife, Lorrie Healy; daughter, Karen (Jeremy) Clarkson; two sons, Kevin (Georgine) Healy and Brian (Jonathan McDonald) Healy; sister, Kathleen (Steve) Isbell; brothers: Thomas J. (Kathy) Healy, Gerold (Linda) Ward, and Steve (Dinah) Ward; three grandchildren: Johnathen T. (Grace) Howard, David J. Healy, II, and Cael J. Clarkson; great-grandson, Luka O. Howard, and several nieces and nephews.

David was predeceased by his brothers, Michael Healy and Ray Ward, Jr.; his step-mother, Maureen Ward-Healy and his aunt, Florence Healy.

Calling hours will be Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 4-7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, October 28 at St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street, Corning, NY with Father John Forni officiating. 

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning with full military honors.

David's family has entrusted his care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
