Victoria Jenkins Hersen

Hard to put 45 years in a nutshell, but here it goes.

I got my A.A. degree from Stephens College in Columbia, MO in 1969 and my B.A. in Social Work from U. of New Hampshire in 1971.
I worked for the American Lung Association from 1971-1987 in Philadelphia, Wheeling, W.Va. and Pittsburgh, PA.
I was Executive Director of the America Diabetes Assn. Affiliate before be moved to Florida in 1992.
I lived in Pittsburgh from 1973-1992. I met my husband Michel Hersen in 1979 and we were married in 1980 and I became the proud stepmom of his 6 year old son Jonathan. (He was a Professor of Psychiatry at the U. of Pittsburgh Medical School).

Our son Nathaniel was born in 1983.

We lived in Parkland, FL from 1992-1997. I was Executive Director of the Broward COunty Lighthouse for the Blind.

We moved to Portland, Oregon in 1997 as Michel became Dean of the Professional School of Psychology at Pacific University. I became Executive Director of Elders in Action, a non-profit and retired in May 2012. www.eldersinaction.org

We are very lucky as our 2 sons live within 5 miles from us. Jon and his wife have 2 children Keelan 3 and Mira 7. I now am active with them when not traveling with Michel.

Michel and I travel to the wonderful National Parks and sights in the NW and West. Michel retired in 2011 and is active with his nature and landscape photography. www.photographybymichel.net

I have stayed connected with Maureen Brown(1967) and Barb Condon (1966) and Donna Gustina (1966). The four of us rented a villa in Tuscany Italy in 2011 for 2 weeks and had a fantastic time.

I think this is a great idea to keep up to date. My parents moved from Corning in 1979 and I have not been back since visiting Barb Condon there in 1986.

I don't have any special school story. I just remember the fine teachers we had. I am glad to see Roger Ochs was in the Facebook chatter as he was a very special teacher and added a vibrancy to our school.
